site members can see my progress as I go in the Progress Blog!
And there it is, the last of the six pages I started doing all at once. It has been awesome to be able to release them one week at a time, but I’m not certain this was the best way to go about it. I know that if I had a regular production schedule that I could count on, this would definitely work. But in my case, it’s probably just as fast to work one page at a time. Maybe I’ll try a shorter run this time… it was the Zoz page that really slowed me down, and I don’t have many complicated landscapes like that left in this chapter. Boy I can’t wait to show you guys the big finale! We’re almost there![/level-subsc] I will be at Ottawa Comic Con from May 9th-11th! Look for the Iron Tiger booth in Artist Alley, booth 2321A! I’ll be selling copies of my b-movie Maggot Man, copies of The Errant Apprentice, and more! I’ll also be drawing stuff for people and handing out Iron Tiger bookmarks and Zik business cards. Come and visit!
Wikipedia, the etymology of the word “anarchy” is as follows:
The word anarchy comes from the ancient Greek ἀναρχία, anarchia, from ἀν an, “not, without” + ἀρχός arkhos, “ruler”, meaning “absence of a ruler”, “without rulers”).That’s what Zoz is like. No rulers. Note that it does not say “without rules.” That “r” is important. An ethically principled society can exist without someone to enforce the code of ethics, as long as the children are raised peacefully (IE without coercion – yes I know how difficult that sounds), and the ethical principles are internally logically consistent. The first Zozian colonists set out with this idea as an experiment, just like the American revolution was an experiment. In this story, the Zozian experiment was much more successful than the American one, but as we’ll get into in future episodes, it wasn’t perfect either. [level-subsc]
So this new job of mine is amazing, but so far it’s taking a lot out of me. I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up a page a week pace much longer, but we’ll see! I’ll do my best![/level-subsc] See you next time as Zik resolves to set things right on this prison planet! ALSO! You’ve got to check out the AMAZING guest art that Raven Perez sent! CLICK IIIIITTTT! I just stared at it and stared at it when he first sent it to me. Mind=blown. Do yourself a favor and go read Raven’s Dojo, because the whole comic looks that awesome.
How the heck could that work?? [level-subsc]
I spent SO MUCH time on this page! I hope you like it! I like it, but the next time I do something like this, I hope I can do it faster.[/level-subsc] So at some point about 15 pages ago I realized that I was creeping up on 100 pages of a comic called “Zik the Gallant Defender of Zoz,” and I hadn’t drawn Zoz yet. So I added this scene into the story so I could show you at least one page in this chapter. In the future, there will be entire stories that take place within the Zozian solar system, so we’ll get to see a lot more of it later. It’s a neat place!
Again, this page was actually completed on April the 3rd, but I’m trying to rebuild my buffer. Having a buffer of pages is critical if you’re making a webcomic, especially if it isn’t your full-time job. It lets you to keep a schedule while allowing life to happen in between. If you’re like me and a lot of life is happening, your buffer gets used up and your schedule gets wrecked. That’s what happened to me at the end of 2012. Slowly things are getting back to normal for me, so this is my first attempt at getting back to a weekly schedule. Okay, it’s back to work on the Zoz page for me now![/level-subsc]
