Escape Attempt

Our impressive hero roasts his foe in the face!

DEFENDER ZIK LORE BREAK!

So now we see how the EVR system works! EVR stands for Extra-Vehicular Rescue. Basically, if you’re ejected into space, you can use the boots (or jet-pack) to give you a propulsion boost and the (optional) grappling hook to attach yourself to a ship of some kind. It’s a Hail Mary sort of system, but it’s better than drifting in space till you freeze to death!

The Kaboom

Wow, that clonoid is all over the map! Or, as Raven said when he saw this: “I wouldn’t be caught DEAD being that guy.. but that guy would!” The previous two statements have been condemned by the Clonoid Rehabilitation League Local 4102.

Surrounded

Well Zik, it looks like you’re outgunned and completely surrounded. So are you going to submit to the Queen, or is there a way out of this?

Screeching Halt

Things seldom go as planned. There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom, but alas, the helicopter is still there. And now, someone seems to have gotten the drop on Zik! Perhaps that’s why the helicopter stopped shooting long enough for Zik to return fire?

Eat Railgun

Your favorite space hero unleashes his railgun at his corpulent foes!

DEFENDER ZIK LORE BREAK!

So here we see the second use of railgun technology in the comic. In case you don’t know what a railgun is, it is a weapon that accelerates a projectile using electromagnetism as opposed to combustion. The projectile is guided down two rails and accelerated to extremely high speeds as it leaves the weapon. I chose this technology because it is still in the experimental phase currently, and because it can be used to fire projectiles in the vaccum of space (IE without oxygen). The people of Zoz use this technology extensively for their sidearms and on weapons platforms for their ships. It can also be used to send probes or cargo over long distances without the use of propellant.

Alley Oop

Zik is a man of action, and a gallant one at that! Even when dodging bullets from a hostile helicopter-thing, he’s all about the chivalry and Galactic Action Hero charisma.

A New Arrival

Oh great, another one! These Clonoids are everywhere! The fact is, they’re networked to a central AI (hence the antennas), so the entire race instantly knows about Zik and his whereabouts!

I’d like to wish a very happy 8th birthday to my daughter Lenore, who is the brilliant young mind responsible for naming Zik’s computer, Zoot. I’m a big fan of both my kids, and I’m pretty lucky that I get to be their dad. Thanks for 8 years of fun, Lenore, and here’s to many more to come! Zonga zonga!

Assessing The Damage

Posted by Victor on .

Zik checks out the extent of the damage to his ship. It’s not too bad, but it certainly is going to make achieving orbit difficult! Meanwhile, James Anchor sends word that he’s on his way! I hope he wasn’t busy, and I hope he has a lot more firepower!
